The North Carolina Environmental Stewardship Initiative (ESI) produced this webinar to provide insight into how lean and environmental performance systems can be leveraged to achieve enhanced continuous improvement and waste reduction.

This informative session will benefit anyone who is interested in:

  • using lean tools to improve environmental performance;
  • involving lean practitioners in finding environmental opportunities; and/or
  • generating financial and environmental performance data from lean activities.

Both Leggett & Platt and Daimler Trucks North America have participated in Lean and Green training events with ESI staff at their respective facilities. These companies shared their experiences with incorporating Green wastes into their existing Lean processes. They also address how this has positively impacted their Environmental Management System.

The North Carolina Environmental Stewardship Initiative is a voluntary program that promotes environmental improvement and leadership through recognition, technical assistance, training and networking opportunities. The ESI membership currently includes over 130 member sites across the state. For more information on ESI, please go to
