There are few things that more directly affect our health than the quality of the air we breathe, whether we are outside or inside our homes, offices, or other buildings. Inside, air quality can be compromised by a wide range of sources—heating/cooling byproducts, tobacco smoke, toxic chemicals in building materials and cleaning products, mold, radon, carbon monoxide, asbestos—and therefore it requires the attention of sports venue operators. Optimal indoor air quality (IAQ) not only protects all venue visitors and staff from adverse health effects, it ensures that athletes’ performance and health will not be compromised by airborne pollutants during training and competition. While often overshadowed by more prominent issues such as energy efficiency, waste diversion and water conservation, IAQ is a significant criteria for facilities pursuing LEED and other green building certifications, and it deserves attention as part of any sports greening program.
This webinar will start with a primer on indoor air quality from green cleaning expert and new Alliance Board member Stephen Ashkin. Following his overview, we’ll learn about the AtmosAir air purification system and its successful use at the Dallas Cowboys’ training facility and the Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kings, Clippers and Sparks. Then, we will dive into the subject of green cleaning products and service providers, also essential to optimizing IAQ, featuring industry leaders ABM and Staples. We will close the webinar with questions for the panelists from the audience.
