Green Sports Awareness

With the 2015 Super Bowl coming up this week, it’s a good time to think about the many opportunities for sports facilities to “green” their operations – whether professional, university-level, or recreational – teams, fans, event planners and college campuses can save energy, cut waste and clean up at sporting events to show their commitment to the environment.

Facilities looking to improve their energy efficiency or their green purchasing practices now have a number of resources available to assist their efforts.

Check out the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Green Sports Webpage for information and links to many other resources.

The Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center (PPRC) has created a Greening Sports Directory (or GSD) – a comprehensive directory of local, regional and national contacts and resources to help sports facilities green their operations.

The Green Sports Alliance Resource Page – Provides a host of useful and thorough resources on a number of green topics.
